gardening part 3

here's a picture of some blooms in my front perennial garden. check out the difference from just over a week ago posted previously. from front to back you'll see morning primrose (pink), homestead verbena (purple) and irises (purple and white). i use a lot of this color combination cuz it's cindy's favorite.

and yes, this is a second gnome that lives in my backyard garden currently hanging out among the snapdragons.

this is why they call them snapdragons. if you pull them apart, it looks like a dragon's mouth...kind of. i guess this is changing from a blog to a glog (garden log)!

this past weekend i met an elderly woman who showed me why they were called "snapdragons." (i never knew why...) she pulled off the flower from the stem, held it between her thumb and index finger and squeezed lightly. the flower "opened and closed" it's mouth like a dragon. it was pretty entertaining!
