dinner with a view

after a busy christmas season working at a church, i've found it's good for my soul to take some time off to recharge. and of course the best place for me to recharge is in the mountains. went up with zak and my buddies joe and don for some backpacking. weather was pretty much perfect - highs in the 50s, lows in the low 40s. this is the view from our campsite / dinner site. amazing how much beauty can be generated from time and chance...

toe jam

last thursday night we were supposed to rehearse for our upcoming worship service on the 19th. we're doing lots of music, including an instrumental prelude off of the trans siberian orchestra christmas cd. well, the power went out in the building, so we did a vocal rehearsal by candlelight (pretty cool) and had to reschedule our instrumental rehearsal for 6:30 am saturday - the only time we could get everyone together. we've got two keyboard players, two guitarists, bass, drums and viola, but there's this one place where we just needed to add one more extra part...so:

foiled again

so when i opened the door to my office yesterday, someone had decided to help me out by creating a monochromatic scheme matching my aluminum christmas tree. don't know if whoever did it really likes me or really hates me.

btw, thanks to those of you who prayed for me this past sunday. definitely felt that many were praying.

christmas at fellowship

so it's about 6:45 pm and i'm staying late at the office so i can work on this week's mesage. last week we began our christmas series where we're looking at some of the "I am" statements of Christ. last week was "I am the bread of life", this week i'm doing "I am the door."

a bunch of VERY dedicated volunteers put together a beautiful set for the holidays. here's a picture from rehearsal last sunday morning. note the way cool setting of bread up front.

anyhoo, if you're reading this and it's before december 12, 2004, pray for me that i'll present the truth well. i'm not up front a lot, so i feel extra stress leading up to it. thx!
